This time of year, you don’t need to leave your inbox unattended for long before it is filled up with countless emails advertising holiday sales and deals. Even if the products being pushed are wildly different, the ads themselves are all somewhat similar, making none of them really stand out. It doesn’t seem to matter what the product is, they’re always offering a holiday discount or advertising some sort of limited special; in short, they’re all fairly ubiquitous.

Because of this, it doesn’t take long for you to become bored and completely unmotivated by this constant ebb and flow of advertising. While the average person may never even notice how disinterested they’ve become, if you’re in the marketing world, consumer boredom is alarming at best. So, how do you get your marketing to stand out this holiday season and avoid these pitfalls?

Both companies encourage marketers to make their campaigns stand out by doing something that nobody else is doing, but they also offer a little insight into how exactly to accomplish this. Standing out doesn’t need to be a difficult task, it just needs to be well thought out and consistent with your branding!

For example, if you see a lot of ads which are giving a percentage off, you could offer to add something on instead. Or, if other ads are asking people to do something, have your ads focus on giving the consumers something. By breaking up the seemingly ceaseless and unoriginal messaging, you will have a much better chance of actually catching somebody’s attention. It’s hard to grab the attention of anyone during this hectic season, but you definitely won’t if you’re only blending in with the others.

If you are able to successfully make your marketing efforts stand out in any way, you’re already in a much better place than most of the marketers around you. Don’t get caught up in what others are doing and how you might be able to do it better. Instead, this holiday season, focus on your brand and what you can do differently because that will make all the difference!
